History shows that Minangkabau has spawned a number of great figures of character and integrity such as Dr. Mohammad Hatta, Dr. Mohammad Natsir, Rasuna Said, Buya Hamka, Buya Syafii Maarif and others. Therefore, it is not too much if Minangkabau is included the storehouse for scholars of character said Prof. Dr. Heru Kurnianto Tjahjono, the Director of the Master of Management Program of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta in a Public Lecture at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Barat Padang (UMSB). He thinks it is proper to call Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Barat as the college that can contribute significantly at the national level.
